ROSIE Mist was chosen, as one of 21 junior golfers with the best reductions in handicap in the country, to play in the Abraham Cup at Ramside, in Durham, on July 28.
She just missed out on glory being relegated to third place on countback after she fired a superb 71 with the trophy going to Durham teenager Charlotte Hindmoor by virtue of a better back nine.

Rosie could not catch the leaders in the English Unde
r 13s Championship on the Ramside course, which started the following day.

She carded rounds of 84, 94, 84 to finish 14th with the winner finishing just seven-over par, such was the high standard.

The Lady Captain's day on July 3 went with a swing. The sun shone and everyone had a lovely day. Particularly as we were allowed, just this once, to have five "chucks" per round.

This resulted in one player having a nett one on a par four hole, and five points and someone else having six points on a par five hole.

The first prize, with 90 points, was won by June Goulding, Carolyn Purssell and Claire Kane. Second were Barbara Osborn, Maria McCanna and Barbara Arnold, and third on countback were Katie Fernandez, Caroline Butler and Helen Rees, both with 87 points.

Hayling Ladies have received a lovely donation of three benches at the ladies' tees. kindly given by Dougie Sharp in memory of his father, who donated the original ones before his death in 1960.

The club's Stoneham Cup run came to an end when we won our last game against Blackmoor at home, on June 18. Three wins and three defeats, wasn't enough to take Hayling to the quarter-finals.

Raffi Dyer, who played for Hampshire English Women's South East County Week, at North Hants, in June, played with Moira Hoath and Shirley Stanton in the third round of the North Hants Trophy, on June 27 but just lost to Meon Valley 2-1.

Barbara Osborn and Maria McCanna will meet either Alresford or South Winchester in the Knight Cup quarter-finals.

Other results: Addison Bowl won by Maria Stokes. June LGU Medal won by A Child Div 1, H Parham Div 2 and J Jenkins Div 3. Stableford June 22/26 Div 1 R Grindle, Div 2 S Burbridge and Div 3 A Wyer. Bath Medal won by Lady Captain's team on July 10.
