HAYLING Ladies Football Club has forged twinning links with another team 6,000 miles from home – thanks to the internet.
Virgo Ladies in Cape Town, South Africa, put out a plea on the web for sponsorship.

And when Hayling United Ladies Football Club spotted it they offered them their old kit.

Hayling manager Dave MacAskill said: "We were not in a position to help
financially but we offered to supply our club strip to them as we were in the process of getting a new one.

"They jumped at the chance and the conversation has continued from there.'

Now the clubs are hoping to arrange exchange visits between players and coaches.

The Hayling team have several level one coaching staff whose knowledge would be invaluable to the South Africans in a country where qualified coaches are rare.

Dave added: "These visits and exchanges will be done under the platform of Football and Friendship, aimed at enhancing woman's football globally.

"But it will be a couple of years before we can progress this, as it will take a lot of funding."

The Hayling team has been sponsored for this season by Gable UK but would like to hear from anyone else who might like to get involved to help with the twinning arrangements with the South African team.
